A little update from my creative life

It has been a little over a year since I last wrote something here.
Which feels slightly strange, because a lot has happened since then.
I have photographed, travelled, filmed, made things, started projects, abandoned a few of them, and changed my mind about other things more than once. Life has simply continued, even though this little corner of the internet has been very quiet.
So I thought it was time to come back.
A different kind of creative life
Photography is still a big part of my life, but over the past year I have found myself wanting to document more than just photographs.

I have become increasingly interested in the everyday moments around the photographs — the places I go, the things I notice, the little projects I work on at home, the seasons changing outside my window, and all those ordinary days that usually disappear without being recorded.
That has also changed the way I approach YouTube.
My channel started out largely around photography and cameras. These days, it has become much more of a visual diary of my life. I still photograph, of course, and cameras are still very much part of my world, but they are no longer the whole story.
Sometimes there is a trip somewhere. Sometimes it is a walk, a day at home, a garden in bloom, or simply a few small things that caught my attention that week.
I like that.
There is something satisfying about looking back at a year through all these little fragments.
Making things, imperfectly
I have also been trying new creative things.
Some have worked out better than others.
Last year I decided to sew a dress, despite having never sewn one before. It involved a few mistakes, some unpicking and redoing things, and a fair amount of figuring things out as I went along.
The dress wasn’t perfect.
But I finished it.
And that was probably more important.

I think I have become increasingly comfortable with the idea that making something doesn’t have to mean making it perfectly. You learn by doing things, and sometimes the only way to get better at something is to make the slightly wonky first version.
That applies to much more than sewing.
It applies to photography, videos, writing, books, and probably most creative things.
Looking back at ordinary days

One of the things I have appreciated most lately is how much there is to notice in an ordinary year.
The first flowers of spring.
A cup of tea outside for the first time after winter.
Roses blooming in the garden.
A drive somewhere without much of a plan.
A summer evening.
A rainy afternoon at home.
A trip to another part of the world.

None of these things are particularly extraordinary on their own. But put together, they become a record of a life.
And perhaps that is what I am most interested in documenting now.
Not a perfectly curated life. Just mine.
The older I get, the more I appreciate these small pieces of everyday life. They are easy to overlook while you are living them, but surprisingly meaningful when you look back.
And this little website
Which brings me back to this website.
I have missed having a place where I can write a little more than I can in a YouTube description or a social media post.
So I would like to start using this space again.
I don’t have a grand plan for the blog. I don’t want to turn it into something that needs to be updated on a strict schedule. I would rather write when I actually have something I want to share.
There might be photographs, stories from trips, creative projects, things I have been making or watching, thoughts about photography, and little glimpses of everyday life in Sweden.
Basically, more of the things that make up my life.
It feels good to be back.
And perhaps the next post won’t take another year.
If you’d like to see more of what I’ve been up to, you can find me over on my YouTube channel. I share little visual diaries, travels and everyday moments from my life in Sweden and beyond.
